Thomas Nieman
I have been producing art since a very young age. My mother and father are both talented visual artists and I have many creative relatives throughout my family. One of my favorite childhood memories occurred in fourth grade in Elmwood Park, NJ when my teacher, Mrs. Wiseman allowed me to create a large part of a life-sized Native American Village Scene in class. I also frequently recall the incredible feeling I experienced when viewing some of the great impressionist and representational paintings for the first time. I recall marveling at the ability of those artists to create elaborate, colorful, three dimensional images from just a few brush strokes on a one dimensional canvas.

Plein air paintings and drawings of landscapes are what I enjoy creating the most. I also enjoy portraits of people and animals too! While I am mostly self-taught, I did complete a semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University as a Fine Arts Major only to switch majors, somewhat regrettably. I have also attended several continuing education workshops at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts - PAFA. As an artist the learning never stops.

November is a beautiful season especially for Japanese Maples. Their red & orange palette is magnificent. I was experimenting working a little looser & abstractly with acrylics, which is not my norm. Also, I try to add a storyline to my paintings, thus the breeze & forgotten nest. (18x24 canvas)

My daughter is in love with animals and that love has rubbed off on my granddaughter. She always has her arms around an animal - whether it?s goats, dogs, cats, chickens or turkeys. She has names for all of them. The medium used for their drawing is charcoal.

This piece is part of my Flow With Me collection, where I create fluid abstract art by trusting the process and letting each canvas become what it is meant to be. I don?t start with a fixed image in mind, I let the colors move freely and allow the painting to tell its own story. This piece reminds me of the meeting point between darkness and light, almost like deep ocean waves blending into the night sky or the universe unfolding. The blues, purples, black, and silver create movement, depth,

My art "Authenticity"This piece represents my journey of transformation ? a journey of becoming the truest and most authentic version of myself. It is about releasing limiting beliefs, breaking free from old patterns, and leaving behind the masks I once wore to fit expectations and seek acceptance. The act of removing the mask symbolizes letting go of the false identities that no longer serve me and embracing who I truly am.At its heart, this artwork carries a powerful message: be aut

This is Marley, one of my loopy border collies. I managed to take the reference photo for this drawing in one of his quiet moments, while he was hugging his favourite toy and stopping his brother Bob from stealing it! It was a challenge drawing him on pastelmat as I'm not too experienced with it but quiete happy with how he came out! He's drawn in a mix of faber castel polychromos, caran d'ache luminance and some derwent drawing pencils.

I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.
